Geetarz Comments:

Pablo Picasso may have had his "Blue Period", but to Clapton fans, 1994 and 1995 are the "Blues Period", that magical time when EC opened his heart and soul and played what he felt without worries of commercial appeal. This standalone authored DVD combines several tasty clips from that time period. First off we have the Warner / Reprise presskit, titled "A Conversation With Eric Clapton", obviously taken from a VHS master. Second we have EC's performance on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" on September 24, 1994, again obviously from a VHS master. The compilation finishes off with the pairing of EC with Dr. John on VH1's "Duets" program from 1996, definitely one of EC's performances of the decade if not his career, this again a VHS master. All these are nice, nothing noteworthy, and all available elsewhere in similar quality. The tasty bit here is tucked in neatly between the SNL and Duets performances, this being pro-shot footage (with soundboard audio) from EC's three-night run at Madison Square Garden in 1994. It's just enough to make one salivate but not enough to satisfy, but a tasty morsel nonetheless. This footage has only been shown once before, as bed footage for the outro credits of VH1's 1994 "Through the Ages" docu-special featuring EC's career.
