I was curious if anyone had a good recording (or even better video/VCD) of the Toronto 2001 show that myself and many others saw at the Air Canada Centre in June of this year. If anyone does, please contact me privately and we'll arrange a trade, I have a good deal shows, including the Mark Knopfler Toronto show on VCD from May of 2001. Cheers! -Sean. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------=_NextPart_000_2766_01C17DC2.69596C00 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit From: Ryan Noyes Subject: This week on American Roots Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Nobody, in the radio industry, is more impressive to me than Nick Spitzer, creator of "American Roots," syndicated throughout the country on non-commercial radio. I finally met the dude last year at the National Folk Festival. I suggest that SD subscribers check out this link and try to pick up the show online or, preferably, through the humming tubes of your Hi-Fi. Robbie Robinson is on this week, but take a look at the orange "NEW!" link for his Real Audio interview database. Nick is among the most respected of the well-rounded musicologists. His ability to research music and recognize unique themes is nearly unsurpassable. I like to think that there is not a subscriber to this list that would not appreciate multiple aspects of American Roots. http://www.americanroots.org Ryan ------=_NextPart_000_2766_01C17DC2.69596C00 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit From: Ryan Noyes Subject: Re: This week of American Roots Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Friends, I'd like to correct the first sentence of my previous note for my countless international friends: "throughout the country" was referring to the US. The primary reason I wrote about "American Roots" is to alert my international friends of it. It is live webcasted through many stations linked through the web site. Clapton's biographer, Eric Shapiro, defends Clapton's rock icon status, while Stuart Maconie launches a searing attack. He dismisses You Look Wonderful Tonight as just Lady in Red with A levels, says Clapton has no star quality and that one riff doesn't make a career. Hosty-cum-ref Mark Radcliffe tries to keep order." Sounds interesting. Best Ann End of slowhand Digest V01 Issue #253
