Do we know for a fact the Eric didn't sign anything?
I have only heard that there were pictures of other
artists signing stuff but no picture of Eric, but just
because we didn't actually see him sign something
doesn't mean he didn't.

Bill Wyman, former bassist for the Rolling Stones and long-time EC crony,
turns 65 today. He is eligible for a British old age pension, the English
equivalent of Social Security in the US.

I've found the answer to my own question re: how the money for the concert
will be distributed. I've cut and pasted the info below [the upper case
printing is mine] from the Robin Hood Foundation's web site at:

http://www.robinhood.org/

"Proceeds from the concert will go directly to the Robin Hood Relief Fund to
meet the immediate and long-term needs of victims of the September 11th
attack. In particular, ROBIN HOOD WILL HELP LOWER-INCOME NEW YORKERS
affected by the tragedy, while through its support of the Twin Towers Fund,
it will aid the families of police, fire, and rescue workers who
courageously gave their lives to help others."

In other words, NO MONEY will be available to the families of ordinary
people who were killed. It will only be given to families of rescue workers
and those living below the povery line.

The woman on the ECGoss list at yahoo groups who's husband was killed in the
WTC attack posted again, saying: "I thought I would at least qualify for
something, being that my husband was killed there, but was not a uniformed
worker. When I spoke with them [The Robin Hood Foundation] today to ask how
distributions were going to be made, I was told that 90% was going to grass
roots organizations. (i.e. the poverty stricken and [the] illegal
immigrants who are [the] destitute
of NYC) and 10% was going to the TWIN TOWER FUND (Police and
Firefighters)"

"That was not how this concert was billed. The words 'VICTIMS of the WTC'
was used often on Radio and TV. Robin Hood Foundation - said it could not
be responsible for how it was promoted."

I wonder if the artists who performed on Saturday were told that the Robin
Hood Foundation only helps the poor, and had no intention of changing that
in order to help ALL of the WTC victims families. In other words, these
artist weren't helping ALL of the victims families - just the chosen few.
I'll bet few, if any, were informed of that fact when they were asked to
help.

Loraine

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to drop a line informing you that in the near future, Marc
Ford will be releasing his solo disc with his band The Sinners. Some of you
may remember Marc as the great guitarist from the Black Crowes. He was on
the Southern Harmony, Amorica and Three Snakes and One Charm albums. Since
he has left the band, the Crowes have gone way down hill.

Anyway he has a web site, www.marcford.com so keep checking for the release
date. All I can say for now is that its really good with great writing and
of course some kick ass guitar playing.

The members of Gov't Mule (including the late Allen Woody) appear on the
disc along with Ben Harper, Craig Ross (the guy who plays lead for Lenny
Kravitz) and others.

keep your ear to the ground for this one.

Any ???? Drop me an e-mail.

Complaints about the NY concert:

too bad, isn't it, that Eric won't do what we want..
He's just doesn't get it.. He should be doing what I
want him to do, and what this guy wants him to do and
what that critic wants him to do....
They might say you can't please everyone, but "Clapton
is God", right? He can do anything!

*since it is inevitable that someone will not "get
it", the above is written in definite sarcasm.**

I thought the post about the widow who complained that
she couldn't get free tickets was freaky.. (not
Loraine, the slowhander-poster, but the woman in the
story)...
>>>"How can they take this attack where so many people
were killed and just make it about the Firefighters,
Police and Rescue Workers? What about the rest of
us?"
She said she tried to get four of the free tickets
that were given out to the victim's families, but was
told "those tickets were just for the firefighters,
police and rescue workers families. I could always
purchase tickets if I wanted to go." <<<<<

Sure we all grieve differently but can you imagine a
charity committee calling up the widows, widowers,
children, etc... who had lost loved ones on 9-11-01
and saying "Hey, we'll give you free tickets to this
show!"... some would be thriled and a lot would be
appalled.
The concert was about thanking the people who helped-
not every one has it in them to risk their own life to
help another.
On the chatboard during the concert (Left Coast having
to wait for this "live" event 3 hours after it
happened) there was a woman who lost her job because
of airline layoffs and she was complaining about the
charity money going only to the families of victims...

there is a never ending trail of those who are going
to complain about something, but jeeezuz... she lost
her husband and she's complaining that she couldn't
get free tickets ???!!!!

There had been a hope that the reality of terrorism in
America would bring home a sense of priorities, but I
guess not...
But then, I am just complaining that I don't approve
of some other people's priorities so I am just as bad
as the rest....

Check out the lineup for the 11/28 episode of the PBS series, "American
Masters" (hope the formatting doesn't mess up):

Date: Wednesday - November 28, 2001
Time: 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm ET

Historians may never agree about where and when rock 'n' roll was
born. But all historians do agree that an
entrepreneur in the world
of music named Sam Phillips began a revolution and
spawned a
legacy when he created Sun Records -- the place
where Elvis
Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and so many
others got their
start. The work of many original Sun artists is
reprised in this
two-hour program by such performers as Paul
McCartney, Bob
Dylan, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, Live and Third
Eye Blind, Eric
Clapton, kd lang, Sheryl Crow, and Boyz II Men.
The film also
includes a moving rendition of "Lonely Weekends"
with Jerry Lee
Lewis and Matchbox Twenty, and an emotional
reunion of old
                          Mississippi Delta musicians. /TV-G/

Hi,
I've read here some messages about EC being lame on recent shows. Well, that
certainly wasn't the case on those two shows I saw in Helsinki in April
2001. I've attended Clapton shows about 15 times since 1969 and Blind Faith.
This time his performance was easily most intense and emotional. Well, the
blues-shows in 1995 were also amazing. His playing and singing has matured a
lot during his almost 40-year career, but on this tour proved, that the fire
and imagination was still there. On the first Helsinki-show he took a "fast
and furious" attitude in his guitar-playing and returned to his more elegant
playing during the second night. He proved, that he can still do both.
People walked away from these 2001 gigs stunned as they realised, that an
artist on top of his craft was going to retire.

Cheers
Olli
