Thought I'd give us a little diversion to stir things up again. Scene: Eric Clapton is performing at the venue of your choice, strictly for Slowhand Digest members only. Eric is going to grant us each the opportunity to ask one question of him, and to make one song request. Task: Where would you want him to perform, what would your question be, and what would your song request be? My answer: I would like to hear Eric play at Mondavi winery in California, or revive the old Poplar Creek venue outside Chicago where he could play under the stars. I would like to ask him which musician from musical history would he most like to perform with (I would guess he would answer Robert Johnson), and I would request that he play Born in Time. Enjoy! Can't wait to hear what you all would like to ask him!! Cathy __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Has anyone come across a recording of the 7/22/01 show at the Savvis Center in St. Louis, MO? I would love to obtain this. If so, please send me an email and hopefully we can work out a trade. Thanks! Best regards, Jeff __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hopefully there's also less wonky camera zooms and psychedelic lights. Hopefully we'll now be in a position to judge the concert from a musical perspective. Someone on the digest once said that they wrote to the directors for a "clean" cut, but got no positive response. I'm looking for a couple Clapton boots to trade with someone. I'll trade for one of my boots or a blank and postage, standard stuff. I am looking for these items: * Disc 2 of the 10.13.95 show in Tokyo- somehow I have two copies of disc one but no disc 2 * Anything from his first show in Boston on his 2001 tour. I forget the exact date. I have lots of good boots I can exchange- let me know if you are interested Also, while I am writing, I just saw an Energy Star commercial whose music was a female's cover of "Change the World". Sounded a bit like Stevie Nicks, but I doubt it was her. Regards, Jesse j.or@verizon.net --=_--SlowhandDigest-- From: "DeltaNick" Cc: "Efron, John M." John ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- On the recently re-issued Rory Gallagher albums, "Irish Tour" and "Live in Europe" there are two references to EC. The liner notes of the former say "Rory was voted 'Top Musician Of The Year' in 1972 ahead of Eric Clapton." The latter states that when Rory's band, Taste, made their one tour to the US, "it was as support to Blind Faith." Does anyone know if EC ever jammed with Rory and are there any recordings? Also, has EC ever even referred to Rory in any interview? Never to have done so speaks volumes. For those who don't know the exuberant and influential Irishman, Rory Gallagher, he was, quite simply, a virtuoso string player. He played a wider range of styles with greater experise than almost any of the greats. Probably only Johnny Winter has demonstrated such versatility. On stage (and in the studio) Rory played a Strat, both flatpicking and slide. He played brilliant acoustic fingerpicking blues, dobro, mandolin and harmonica. He was a spectacular blues and rock guitarist, a wonderful song writer, and the most high energy stage presence. Tragically, he died in 1995 after complications following liver transplant surgery. He was only 47. You can learn more about him at the website maintained by his brother, Donal. http://www.hut.fi/~khagelbe/rory.html John End of slowhand Digest V01 Issue #271 --=_--SlowhandDigest-- **********************
