EC teams up with the Impressions for a "crooner" track called Just Walkin' In the Rain which was recorded at Olympic studios in London.Produced by Simon Climie & Ahmet Ertegun Engineered and mixed by Simon Climie as well. Great Vocals and some tasty slide work as well. Surprisingly the other musicians on the session are not credited. It would appear that it was recorded during the UK tour since they were all in the UK at the same time although EC did have the Flu so he might have overdubbed his vocal later. For me, as an overall guitar player, he ranks just behind EC (yes, in front of Hendrix, SRV, etc.). I have been an RG fan almost as long as an EC fan - 1970. Taste did open for some Blind Faith shows, so RG and EC surely crossed paths. I know that Rory was bitter that his career did not rise to the "star" level of other UK musicians, although to the best of my knowledge he never directly mentioned EC in that light. He was extremely popular in Europe, but never really got off the ground in the States. I have seen several RG interviews, and if he ever mentioned EC, it was just in passing. I do not know of any recording that they both played together on - very unfortunate - imagine RG on slide and EC on lead!!!! Rory was a very dynamic guitar player and had a very strong stage presence. I just purchased the DVD (yes DVD in 5.1) of RG's Irish Tour '74. Absolutely spectacular - raging guitar. RG plays a tune called Walkin Blues on the DVD and states, "Here's an old blues tune played by many people (he lists about 4, including Eric Clapton)." This is the only time I have heard RG say ECs name on stage. Anyway, if any of you EC fans out there have yet to discover Rory Gallagher, I highly recommend the commercially released CDs Stage Struck and Irish Tour 74. You'll be hooked by his enthusiasm, just like I was. John ----- Original Message ----- From: "DeltaNick" Cc: "Efron, John M." Well, it turns out that EC isn't playing on any of the songs...it's Smokestack Lightning, Dixon, Bery, McDaniels, etc. performing EC covers....somewhat dissapointing for me, not to mention false advertising. I like a few of the songs, but thought that I'd here EC singing with the artists!!??? Does anyone know the skinny on this? _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp End of slowhand Digest V01 Issue #272 --=_--SlowhandDigest-- **********************
