For $100,000 of my hard earned money the guitar would have to include Mr. Clapton doing the delivery. then I might share the guitar with you, but keep the delivery person ; - ) Pat ---- Pat Seger seger001@gold.tc.umn.edu --=_--SlowhandDigest-- From: "Tess Chatham" Subject: Re: A Night of Red Hot Blues Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed It was indeed a tv show with B.B. King and a few very tasty guests. The show is/was available on VHS titled B.B. King & Friends: A Night of Red Hot Blues. It's a great show. It was filmed for an HBO special... details below. Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" > Well, I would suspect that, inevitably, there will be a George Harrison Tribute Album of some kind. What song should EC play? > > Ken I'd like to see Eric do a more obscure Harrisong if he were to contribute to any such project. Probably many of George's songs would not suit Eric's style anyhow, as he tended to lean in more of a pop direction (not a criticism), so it would not be easy to pick an appropriate one. I recall Eric commenting that George gave him 4 songs for Journeyman, and all had diminished chords on them which were not to his liking, although Run So Far made the album, and That Kind of Woman ended up on the Romanian Angel Appeal CD. Perhaps Eric could have another shot at one of the other 2 unreleased songs from that time. Having said all that, Eric doing an acoustic Here Comes the Sun does sound appealing though. Thanks too to Janet for posting the collection of EC quotes on George, very interesting. Nobody seemed to know what these were, but I think I've figured it out. Apparently, these are new Japanese releases (released 21 November 2001) by Universal Music Japan. The CDs, I believe, are the same digital copies of the latest remastered CDs--with one fortunate and notable exception--and they are packed in mini-LP sleeve duplicates of the original vinyl album covers. Such CDs have been released before, both in Japan and Austria, by Polydor, which is now owned by Universal Music. So, big deal. What's new? Well, the list of releases is greater than before. This time, I believe all Universal-owned Cream, Clapton, and Derek & The Dominos releases have been reissued, to include the three box sets ("Crossroads," "Crossroads 2," and Cream's "Those Were The Days"). But that's not all. John Mayall's "Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton" (aka "Beano") has been reissued in this spate of new CDs as well. Digitally--and fortunately--it's the same 24-track (mono/stereo) CD as issued previously (1998) in Europe and Japan (not the latest 14-track remastered CD released in the US this year). However, this is the first time, to my knowledge, that "Beano" has been issued in a mini-LP cover. And it's the first time that the CD has been issued on the original Decca label (not Deram). In fact, the mini-LP cover is an exact duplicate of the original UK album, released 22 July 1966. All the new releases can be viewed at the Universal Music Japan web site (http://www.universal-music.co.jp/u-pop/artist/eric_clapton/eric_clapton_dis co.html). These new CDs are a bit expensive on CDnow, about $35.00. But they can be ordered for $25.00, plus postage, from the importer Electric Obiland http://www.obiland.com (search for "Mayall"), and they are available now. I know he recorded one song for the album but not sure if the TV broadcast showed him recording the song? Any info appreciated.
