I bought it when it came out back around 1991. It is a wonderful collector's piece. I was lucky enough to get back stage in 1992 and get the whole crew including Roger Forrester to sign the Derek Taylor book.I think I paid $250 for it. Can't remember. Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit So I'm waiting for my sandwich to arrive at Quizno's sub shop today and the in-house music system is playing Quizno sub commercials and house music. All of a sudden I hear a bluesy shuffle that sounds like Roll It from Backless. I recognize Clapton's voice immediately and he's singing Before You Accuse Me. It's a studio version with lots of slide. Very different and funky. WHAT IS THIS FROM? As usual, CD Now has no detailed information. << Ken, I wrote about the "Limited Edition" CDs just a few weeks ago (see below). I believe I saw "In The Blues With EC 1" listed on one of our Japanese subscriber's web sites, and it appears to be a compilation. Don't know what "Eric Clapton Live" is, but I'm pretty sure it's NOT "E.C. Was Here." DeltaNick ----- Original Message ----- From: "DeltaNick" Sent: Thursday, 10 January 2002 09:34 PM Subject: EC Limited Edition CDs Several weeks ago, some Slowhand Digest readers asked questions about Eric Clapton "Limited Edition" CDs, listed on CDnow and other web sites. Nobody seemed to know what these were, but I think I've figured it out. Apparently, these are new Japanese releases (released 21 November 2001) by Universal Music Japan. The CDs, I believe, are the same digital copies of the latest remastered CDs--with one fortunate and notable exception--and they are packed in mini-LP sleeve duplicates of the original vinyl album covers. Such CDs have been released before, both in Japan and Austria, by Polydor, which is now owned by Universal Music. So, big deal. What's new? Well, the list of releases is greater than before. This time, I believe all Universal-owned Cream, Clapton, and Derek & The Dominos releases have been reissued, to include the three box sets ("Crossroads," "Crossroads 2," and Cream's "Those Were The Days"). But that's not all. John Mayall's "Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton" (aka "Beano") has been reissued in this spate of new CDs as well. Digitally--and fortunately--it's the same 24-track (mono/stereo) CD as issued previously (1998) in Europe and Japan (not the latest 14-track remastered CD released in the US this year). However, this is the first time, to my knowledge, that "Beano" has been issued in a mini-LP cover. And it's the first time that the CD has been issued on the original Decca label (not Deram). In fact, the mini-LP cover is an exact duplicate of the original UK album, released 22 July 1966. All the new releases can be viewed at the Universal Music Japan web site (http://www.universal-music.co.jp/u-pop/artist/eric_clapton/eric_clapton_dis co.html). These new CDs are a bit expensive on CDnow, about $35.00. But they can be ordered for $25.00, plus postage, from the importer Electric Obiland http://www.obiland.com (search for "Mayall"), and they are available now. I do not have it in front of me at the moment but it has eight (I think) blues tracks by other artists where EC also appears on guitar. From memory, the tracks are: 3 by Clarence Gatemouth Brown 2 by Marc Benno 1 by Bobby Womack 1 by Buckwheat Zydeco plus one I have forgotten at the moment. I hope that this helps.
