In fact he was on the same flight that I was on from the UK and that was December 1st which means he was in Japan for the live broadcast on the 4th December. Ken --=_--SlowhandDigest-- From: Bill Robinson Subject: Alphi Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hey Gang, Just a quick message regarding Alphi O'Leary. Alphi, whom I met and got to know at the Fillmore in SF during the "Nothing But the Blues" tour, was a stellar person. He and I discussed the internal workings and relationships of EC's inner circle and he foretold of the Roger Forrester relationship coming to an end several years later. Friendly, conversive, caring, helpful, kind and sparkling were just a few words to describe this man. A real gem of a guy! To echo Scott and Nathan's sentiments, Alphi really did love people ... man, oh man, did he love talking with, helping and otherwise being a positive influence in other people's lives. Keep On Rockin' in that big venue in the sky, Alphi!! I had the pleasure of meeting him in '92 in Atlanta. He so loved Eric, the band and as mentioned.......people!!! We had some great conversations during those weekends. I'll never forget his coming into the lounge one evening with some of Eric's guitar pics and handing them to me. It was almost as exciting as meeting Eric, (I melted in the elevator the first time I met him), and hanging out with the band, which of course includes the most gracious and wonderful, Nathan East. I'll never forget Alphi's smiling face and I feel truly blessed for the little time I spent with him. I think of Alphi every time I pull out an EC fender guitar pic to show someone or to get a piece of change from my wallet. Obviously, I have thought of Alphi daily for almost 10 years. Rest In Peace dear Alphi, and thank you. --=_--SlowhandDigest-- From: Jonathan Clermont Subject: Official Recording Of Budokan Shows Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii I think the record companies have finally decided not to even make live albums anymore. They spend nothing making it, spend a bundle marketing it, and then cry and whine when they don't make back their money--reason being, only hardcore fans typically buy them. We need more Pearljams in the world. A couple of years ago they released an ENTIRE TOUR, spent nothing on marketing or packaging, pleased their fans, and managed to turn over a profit. Whether we ever see anything like this from Reprise, who knows? But, I wouldn't cross my fingers. Jonathan Can anyone confirm that 4 of the shows at Budokan were officially recorded? If so, does this mean there might be a live album? Ken __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE Valentine eCards with Yahoo! Enjoy Dave p.s. anyone made any artwork for this show? --=_--SlowhandDigest-- From: Ishraq Subject: French lyrics to Valentine Moon Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii First, let me give to all my deepest condolences on the passing of Mr O'Leary. He had a hard job keeping EC safe all these years, and we all enjoyed that benefit. That was/is a priceless gift to us, all. Bless him and his loved ones, always. . . I love Jools Holland's new album, BIG BAND SMALL WORLD (that's the US name for it) and was unable to reckon all of the French lyrics in that one verse of VALENTINE MOON about reunited old lovers whose love has always remained constant. If someone would be so kind as to tell me the words and their meaning it'd be a great St. Valentine's gift. Many thanks in advance. And Happy Valentine's Day to all. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE Valentine eCards with Yahoo!
