I also would vote for the 1978 Santa Monica version. And to through in a
side comment - the best "different" Layla would be Duets with Dr. John.

Another pledge for the SLOWHAND group on
AUDIOGALAXY.(as long it will exist!)

Putting up the show in high quality there (256khz),
avoids a lot of the problems mentioned in Keith s
mail.

Shows can be sent to you from group
members through AG
or you can download them from group
members files whenever you feel like doing so.
Depending on the connection
of parties involved it might take a while, you can
also let your machine do it overnight.

The group now has grown to 150 members since January
02 and all recent shows are circulating there now, or
will be at Easter. No hassle with sending out in time
and burning for others. No
(overseas) postage involved as well.
No sending out blanks, which then get scratched,
necessary.

People who have burners can burn for themselves,
people who dont have burners
can store the show on their harddrive
and listen to them over their computer
or have them burned by a (neighborhood) friend.

We gladly invite new members. Its a very friendly
group, always ready to help out. If you need the
routine to get on there, feel free to email me, avoid
the list. Just use the list for good (or bad)
experiences you had with the group on AG.

happy Easter
best regards

       RE: BUDOKAN SHOW FREEBIES

Over the last few years I have passed on a lot of good
music on a
multitude of lists, and different bands. Almost
everything I offered
up
was something that was not circulated much, if at all.
 Almost none of
the recipients have followed through on their
committments to pass on
music. Some of it has been all small tree's with 20
people in GD
trading groups on tree's with only 20 people. The
lower 16 are never
leaves. They sign up, making a committment to me they
will offer up
the
the shows back to the group. All most none of them
do. I recent;y
offered on a ABB list, the entirety of the 6/9/73 and
6/10/73 ABB/Dead
shows at RFK Stadium. The Dead sets had circulated,
in very high
quality, but the ABB sets had not. I have yet to see
one person offer
is
back up, and I burned about 56 discs for people to
further the cause of
spreading the music. On this list recently I have
offered up several
liberated bootlegs. Everyone of them was conditional,
as a freebie,
that
they be reoffered. Oe prerson has gottten back to me,
they are having
some problems copying the discs for people they didn't
play for
(actually she got her discs from someone who I gave
the show too, and
they made a copy for her).

In general, my experience with dozens of shows, entire
runs of several
nights at the same place or whatever do not get passed
on. People have
no qualms lying to get shows for themselves, and
hoarding. Often, I am
tempted to say "Screw Everyone, I busted my butt to
get this together,
why should I pass it on to selfish liars?". So far,
that has not been
how I operate, but don't be surprised if a change
comes.

After my rant of yesterday, I felt I did want to add one thing. Overall
the continued generosity of members of this list for continuing to offer
up the Budokhan show, are far better than what happens in most of the
experiences I described in the last SD. Occassions like this are
refreshing.

Now I have a question. Why did Clapton not play at outdoor
amphitheaters like Shoreline, SPAC, Irvine Meadows and dozens of other
accross the country and maybe world? The only tour I can reemember him
playing an outdor show in Los Angeles was when he toured with Elton John
years ago, and they played at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. I don't
know where they played in other city's.

Unfortunately, the CREAM appeared on Glenn's
show when it was just a summer replacement for the
Smother's brother's show in '68. Glenn got his own
show the following year, which is what these reruns
are being culled from, I believe. I still have a clear
memory of seeing CREAM on that show and being hooked
on EC from that time forward.

Hi,
I was wondering if anybody has seen this or has a video of Sunshine
of your love from this show. (Mark???) Anyone for tennis is of course
familiar from Fresh Live Cream, but any sightings of SOYL. I'll
gladly trade a 2 CDR show for a VCD.
Cheers

The CMT cable channel is re-running the old Glen Campbell show. It was
pretty corny, but he sometimes had some good music acts on it. The
first
month's worth don't seem too cool ... but Cream once played live on
this
show in 1968. In fact, "Sunshine Of Your Love" from the 17 May 1968
CBS TV
show is included on the 4-CD "Those Were The Days" box set.

George Harrison's "The Concert for Bangladesh," which took place in New
York's Madison Square Garden in 1971 is due soon as an EXPANDED Deluxe 30th
Anniversary Edition. With George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Ringo
Starr, Badfinger, Leon Russell and others.

Rhino has put up a page devoted to the re-release of The Band's "Last Waltz"
movie and soundtrack. This has been expanded to a 4-CD set featuring The
Band, Joni, Dylan, Neil Young, Dr. John, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Emmylou
and others, and has lots of technical data, although no track listing which
is still believed to be as published here. MGM have also put a site together
for the upcoming (5 May?) DVD. http://www.rhino.com/hotpress/78278pr.html

European label Charly Records will soon release "The Yardbirds Story," a
4-CD, 90 track set. Claiming that it contains every released recording made
by the band under Giorgio Gomelsy's management (probably not exactly true),
this set will be housed in deluxe digipak format with track-by-track
commentary in a 52 page illustrated booklet. I wonder if this is a
repackaged version of Charly's earlier 4-CD/90-track box set titled "Train
Kept A-Rollin'."
