I remember hearing that EC wanted to cut out outdoor venues completely after the SRV
show in '90. It actually stuck out in my mind so much that I wondered "why" he did Shea
or LA a couple years later. Did I dream that or has someone else out there in SD land remember
that?

I've seen Eric in plenty of outdoor settings including 2 during the summer of '90. Which was Nashville
and Atlanta. (I also had the most unpleasurable experience of seeing him in that tomb they call Riverfront
Coliseum in Cincy but that's another story!)

Before anyone does anything silly like post this information, I'd like to
briefly mention two words that might put this in perspective:

George
Harrison

Keep in mind this list goes out to a LOT of people. Most of them are cool,
yes, but ya never know who's reading. True, most of the Clapton Stalker
Chicks are laying low, nursing their wounds and biding their time because
they KNOW that "the marriage just won't last" LOL. But all joking aside,
really - it's none of anyone's business. If Eric wants anyone to drop by,
I'm sure he will give them directions!

Now, if anyone has a mailing address, that would probably be information
many folks would find useful. The only one I've seen was that for Roger
Forrester's office, and I'm guessing that mail sent to EC at that address
probably ends up in the dustbin ;)

Cheers,
Mark Deavult

In response to Nick, I think Clapton playing 30 or 50 outdoor venues
over 35 to 40 years is not a lot of outdoor shows. Bands like the
Allman Brothers Band, The Grateful Dead, when they were around, and many
other play 30 to 50 outdoor shows a year, every year. IMO, the sound
quality at the Hollywood Bowl far exceeds the Staples Center. IMO, it's
neither good or bad playing outdoor as an artist, it's simply a matter
of choice. As a attendee, I certainly enjoy the outdoor atmosphere
more. I certainly didn't boycott Clapton's Los Angeles show because he
was inside in the middle of August last year.

>> Now I have a question. Why did Clapton not play at
outdoor amphitheaters
like Shoreline, SPAC, Irvine Meadows and dozens of other

Although I've never seen Clapton at an outdoor venue,
he's played plenty of
them. Clapton played at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in
nearby Columbia,
Maryland back in the late '80s or early '90s. There are
plenty of pictures
of Clapton playing at the outdoor Crystal Palace in the
UK, circa 1976. He
played at Live Aid in 1985, which was broadcast worldwide
on TV. He played
at Knebworth in 1990. There are outdoor photographs on
bootlegs of EC
playing in the San Francisco area during the mid-1970s. I
know that Clapton
played in Davenport, Iowa in 1974, another outdoor
performance. And I
believe that EC has also played at NY's Shea Stadium. And
isn't there
another 1974 performance enshrined on bootleg of Clapton
playing at
Roosevelt Stadium in NY or NJ?

Furthermore, Blind Faith played outdoors on 26 July 1969
in West Allis,
Wisconsin. And Cream's first official gig was 31 July
1966 at the Windsor
Racecourse in the UK. In addition, Clapton played
outdoors at plenty of
festivals while with the Yardbirds (including the First
R&B Festival,
Birmingham, 28 February 1964) and while he was with John
Mayall And The
Bluesbreakers.

These are ALL off the top of my head. If I took the time,
to go through the
Bootography and the EC Tourography, I could find dozens
more outdoor
performances. The longer I think, the more outdoor
performances I remember.

The answer is Clapton has played PLENTY of outdoor
performances, at PLENTY
of outdoor venues.

Or, maybe I didn't understand the question.

The Layla on the Legends tour with the riff played by David Sanborn on Sax
is also pretty different.

>>Does anyone know where EC lives, yes, I know he lives in Ripley >>Surrey,
>>but what street and what number... Bye, let me know please

Yes, I know it. He's my neighbour and I don't want three thousand fans in
front of our home every morning...Try Graceland, Elvis won't be bothered
anymore. Eric will.

This question is a joke. No hard feelings, but dear Carlo, if Mark Chapman
didn't know Lennon's address at Dakota building, John could be alive today;
maybe even George could still be alive if the crazy kid who stabbed him
didn't know his address, since the sttabing thing worsened even more his
fragile health.

Let's leave Eric alone with his new family, if you're not planning to stab
him, maybe other who discover his address can be a lunatic and try to harm
him someday.

*THINK* just a little bit before asking something like this. I don't know if
you're a newbie in the list (don't feel unwelcomed by this), but most of us,
even some who were lucky enough to meet Eric personally, always respect his
privacy. Don't mix the popstar Eric with the human being Eric; popstars
don't have a home, normal people (as he is when he's not onstage) do need
peace.

Peace for you too, brother.
Fabio
