Now tell me, How many of you would rather read a story like that than all the bitching about an address? I'm sure 90% of you. If there are more stories out there like that the SD would be much MUCH more entertaining ...... (but at least we're not talking about lutefish or pressed rats thank god ;) Pat ps Thanks Andre Hi all, I really see nothing wrong on a person willing to contact EC, Mr Bush or The Pope, considering that he or she does have some valuable information to say. On September last year I talked to a reporter of the Brazilian neswpaper "O GLOBO", at that time it was still some weeks for the EC gig. The reporter told me how easy it was : He had the idea - by himself - to try an interview. He called EC's agency in England (the telephone # is public known, I guess it's Reprise's) and said : "My name is XXXX, I am a reporter of the Brazilain newspaper XXX and I would like to make a phone interview with the guitar player EC". He was asked to send his e-mail, after a few hours he received a message stating some usual rules he should respect : no personal questions, just 10 minutes, and the usual bla bla bla. He replied and wrote : "I agree", and sent his phone #. On the following day, the phone rang at his office, another person hooked it up and said : "Hey, it's for you, hurry up cause it's from a foreign country, as the person is speaking in English"; When he got up the phone, he was a bit surprised as he expected some more steps to follow, but it was the already the real deal: "Hi, it's Eric Clapton, let's go on with the interview"; Easy, right ? But of course it's necessary to mention that the reporter contacted the agency and stated CLEARLY what he wanted to do. Cheers, Andre --=_--SlowhandDigest-- From: "Apurva Parikh" Subject: Biggest mistake EC has made? Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed In an effort to spice up more discussion.. Let's see if this is a good topic. I have always been thinking about what has been Eric's biggest mistake personally or professionally? I think : 1. listening to the Band's Music from Big Pink was a big mistake, cause he abandoned Gibsons, etc. 2. The fact that he hooked up with Simon Climie has been a mistake.. 3. I think for better for worse. Leaving Mayall was a mistake, IMO Anyone have any ideas? Until now they have met Jodie Foster, Raoni (Sting's friend), Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jean-Paul Belmondo (they had to go to Venezuela to meet him), Michael Gorbatsjov, David Copperfield, Marco Pantani (Italian cyclist ... extremely difficult to get in touch with), and for all those in showbizz, about all it took was a phone call with their management . The main problem in those cases was that they had to settle for the time and place proposed to them, but that was all . I'm quite sure that with some credentials, it would be relatively easy to get to meet EC, when he has something to promote, just by calling (or writing) his management, and provided you're willing to travel :-) Just my 2 cents, Eddy --=_--SlowhandDigest-- From: ewing@islandia.is Subject: Another European Budokan offer Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I just received the Budokan show. Gunnar Hakonarson ewing@islandia.is -- --=_--SlowhandDigest-- From: DavidH@cae.com.au Subject: Budokan VCD Offer Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Hi all, I now have my copies of this VCD. I will offer these to anyone in the world! However my rules are still the same as before. If you don't wish to abide by them then don't email me. So here they are: 1. I received my copies through the kind generosity of fellow digest readers, which means my copy was free. That means I did not pay for the CDRs nor did I pay for the mailing. So there is definitely no B&P (Blanks & Postage to newbies). I expect anyone who gets a copy from me to do the same. 2. In my view this digest posting is for sharing NOT for setting up trades for other items with this VCD. What you do privately off this site is up to you. Please don't offer copies for trading on this site. 3. If you don't hear from me that means you did not make the cut. Cheers, David Special thanks to Markd for starting this. Special mention to BruceB for my copies. Much appreciated. --=_--SlowhandDigest-- From: "Phil Jones" Subject: European Budokan Audio Offer Content-Type: text/plain; charset="Windows-1252" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi Thanks to Ishraq, I'm offering the Budokan audio set to the first 5 people in Europe to email me. I'll keep it short. Like with Texan's. Do you occupy your time with such wonderful activity, that you can be righteous and pompous regularly, and still be appropriate? Probably another stuffy Brit, with suits, and London Fog raincoats; I have arranged my life to not be in such attire. Are you one of the people that was picked on during the old "Monty Python Show"? Is the above, more coherent? Subject: Re: Clapton's Address From: Jonathan Clermont Ladies and Gents, I emplore you! I thought it was just because it is coming to this address. Does anyone know if there is a way to change the format to just one email or is it because attachments are just how some servers receive the digest??? Is anyone else getting the slowhand digest these days by attachment only? I'm not getting one email message with all of the posts in it. Is it me or are the digests going out different?
