Dimitroff" Subject: You are the Producer Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Suggestions so far expressed personal aural preferences: sound (e.g. acoustic) or musical style (e.g. pure blues). I would not limit it to any single sound or style (to enjoy Eric's versatility), but rather build it around a THEME - how about "Eric's Spiritual Journey" We have numerous evidences of it throughout his career, from 'Presence of the Lord' through ' Holly Mother' and 'Sinner's Prayer' to 'The Calling' on Santana's 'Supernatural'. There are explicit Christian songs (traditional gospel and blues) and less obvious, nevertheless highly spiritually charged ones. Old mates and influences like Christian musicians Stevie Winwood, Nathan East and Jerry Lynn Williams (author of 'Running on Faith') can be among guests on the album, maybe even Dave Markee (bassist from around 'Just One NIght' time, now a church pastor in Croydon).. I have no doubt that Eric's spiritual journey is still unfolding, retirement or otherwise, and few have his potential to influence other lives. For the cynical amongst us, to whom this 'faith thing' doesn't mean a lot, I would suggest a cynically commercial reason: Christian Music is by far the fastest growing segment in the musical industry, in times of shrinking profits elsewhere. As a producer I see an opportunity: the right time, the right artist, the right theme - the album will outsell anything Eric has done in the past (and probably anything released in the same year). For those who share my faith and understanding of music as one of God's ways to work on us, I would offer the album as alternative worship. More powerful than the self-isolated 'CCM' artists, coming from a man who has known evil too close and is still capable to WALK ON in a really convincing manner. Not a bad idea for an album title, btw ('Walk On') - what do you think? Just a few crazy thoughts... Vlado P.S. Written in the secret hope that Eric's management or representatives of his label are lurking on this list, ear-to-the-ground for the Voice of the Market ;o))) ------=_NextPart_000_3EED_01C20333.FA3AAD00 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit From: DGkalina@aol.com Subject: Woking - Offer Closed Below is your form's result. To the rank and file music lovers (this excludes guitar players and most musicians), most folks did not and maybe still not - know who played what guitar solo's on the Layla LP. Eric as god (ie: one of the hottest players around) had all the hot solo's attribute to him by the rank and file. After the success of the Alllman Brothers LP AT THE FILLMORE and the death of Duane Allman, still another group attributed the hot solos to him, as his legend grew. After all - what rank and file music lovers can tell the difference between a lot of Dicky Betts and Duane solo's on the Filmore lp? Who can pick out the Keith Richards vs Brian Jones guitar parts on the early Stones records? Or John Lennon's guitar and George Harrison guitar on a lot of Beatles records? I know a lot of people who came to the Layla lp because of Duane. Enough! I sending in 6 parts, a time-line that will illustrate Eric Clapton career in 1970 and his fellow musicans who are Derek and the Dominos I look forward to feed back and along with all those who love GOTCHA on the dates. -Steve ------=_NextPart_000_3EED_01C20333.FA3AAD00 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit From: "J.S. We attended the first weekend's festivities on Sunday and had an awesome time. Living nearby, we chose to drive in and park in the French Quarter and travel by JazzFest bus transportation. I would highly recommend this even if you are staying in the City because not only is it inexpensive but you are delivered conveniently on the site and can travel back at any time to an even more enjoyable place to party afterwards. Tipatina's is right nearby Canal Street and the Mississippi River...and there are several other site-stations in downtown New Orleans to purchase Jazz Festival tickets and also get round trip transporation to the fairgrounds...very, vry safe! Just go to JazzFest.com for all the information you want and need. Jazz Fest been going on for a long time and they really have everything set up so nicely and professionally with several outdoor stages, many more large and spacious tents and all the eats, drinks, novelty and craft booths you could possibly imagine...soooo much to see and hear and EAT! MY mouth waters everytime I think about the scrumptious-oyster pattie, crawfish fried biscuits and beignets, stuff artichoke and oyster poboys we feasted on. EATING in New Orelans is the BEST! Afterwards, we headed on down to the far side of the grounds to the Blues tent. Of course, I was dying to visit that stage first. Lil' Buck Blues Band with guest Jerry McCain were just starting on stage. They had the crowd movin' just fine and it was a treat to be in a tentful of people WHO love the blues! Most everyone really moved to the beat of the music! Awesome site! Speaking of sites! There were plenty funny looking ones! People wear the craziest things to Jazz Fest! AS I looked around the tent area, there were huge photographs of bluesmen hanging from the ceiling...those oldie-but-goodies who had performed at the festival in years past. Stevie Ray Vaugh ('86)was right up front--hangin' high.. and his image kept turning and moving in the breezes that swept through the pavilion...almost as though he was still there and groovin' to the music! Later we saw a group featuring Chris Thomas King, after we found a place at an outside stage set up for Allen Toussaint and his band. You've got to realize, there is a lot of going back and forth to different tents and stages before and after and catching a little bit of gospel-- here and a little bit of jazz--there, etc. etc. Dr. John played after Toussaint. The crowds were getting pretty big and close by then--Melissa Etheridge to perform later in the evening, but we opted to head back to the French Quater and have a leisurely drink and a quieter meal. Again, if you are thinking about making this trip, I don't think you would be sorry. The festival starts up again on Friday through Sunday evening and I believe Jimmy Buffet, Bonnie Raitt, Neville Bros, Phil Lesh are among some of the bigger names next weekend, but much, much more. While browsing around some of the craft and novelty booths, I came across his photographer who takes performer's pictures. His name is Scott Saltzman and here is his website. You just might enjoy viewing some of the photos. http://scott@barefootphotography.com/ IF not this year---think about it next year...you won't be disappointed. Of course, New Orleans is a great place to visit, any ole time. :) " le bon temps roulez" Let the Good Times Roll! Mimi End of slowhand Digest V02 Issue #87
