Has it been delayed? RE: TELL THE TRUTH / ROLL IT OVER. -- I have long suspected it was withdrawn as a single because some record co. suit actually listened to the words of Roll It Over. >>Note: Soon Withdrawn. Not the smartest move to promote Eric's first solo lp. One wonders if contractual agreements called for the pulling of this single. Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit If it was my position to even get a chance to bend Clapton's ear, the first thing I would tell him is "Eric, one of the biggest problems of your recent releases is the fact, as I see it, of your being exploited, and over produced to fill all the nitches, you have been lead down a path to be everyones favorite over one song or another. Fire me. Fire the rest of the hanger's on. You have it in your heart. As a recovering addict-alcoholic, you're probably a little unsure of your self, and feel comfortable with the guidance. I know the feeling. You need musical guidance like Professor Longhair needed guidance. Fess needed someone to show him how to make money. He didn't need anyone to lead him down the path to make music. You don't either. In the interview portions of the "Nothin But the Blues" film by Scorcese, you verbalized how important that music was to you for 30+ years. Maybe in the 8 years since you did that CD and toour, your feeling about doing that type of CD may not give you the same drive. Also, this collective "we" somehow took the liberty of arranging your life/artistry. Perhaps now is not the time to embark on another production. In closing, do what is in your heart, not what others project upon you. Trust your heart. Bonnie Raitt is a perfect example I can think of. After several recordings with Don Was producing, and a really great band, Bonnie came from multiple consecutive flops on the charts, and financial flops someplace, to Grammies and her place in Rock's elite. What did Bonnie do? She and Don Was parted ways, I believe amicably, she put a new band together, who I haven't seen in 2 or 3 years, and took her music in a direction she was comfortable with. Another band you are undoubtedly familiar with after playing with Duanne some, is the Allman Brothers Band. In the personel changes of 2000 and 2001 Dickey Betts was gone, and Warren Haynes came back to the band full time. From what I've seen and read Warren Haynes is the "leader" of the band onstage. My initial, and still thought is "why the hell do Butch Trucks, Jaimoe, Gregg Allman, and even Derek Trucks, and toss in the last member Otiel need a leader?" IMO, after 30 plus years of being a fan of everyone I mentioned pretty much, They all know what they want, and they know it deep in their heart, as I have no doubt you do. Live your Dream, Play the music that fills your dream, when the time is right, and don't worry, it will ship Platinum." And like Bob Dylan of late, the fans remain. When they ask me where they came from and I say Eric Clapton most people are stunned. Many times the birth of a child brings spiritual inspiration to a performer so who knows what's in store for the future? Scott ----- Original Message ----- From: "V.
