I am looking for a copy of one of two shows I saw EC perform at Buddy Guy's Legends in November of, I believe, 1994. Does anyone know if any copies exist?

Vlado, excellent idea. I myself am a church musician, playing electric
guitar and bass, learned basically from Eric with his music from 1966 to
the present, and his music was my inspiration. He has many spiritual
songs that I believe would resonate only too well today, just 8 months
after 911. I too believe that it would outsell anything from the past.
Not to sound commercial, but I believe that it would. Of course, it
would have to be what he wants to do and not because someone thinks it is
commercially viable. That is secondary to his artistic considerations.
I do hope he goes with his heart and I hope he can somehow escape
dictates from record companies. I do wish too that a live album would be
released. It would beat any of the studio stuff of recent years. And
Eric, if you are listening: please play your guitar again. That's how
you got to where you are, and that is the gift that God gave to you.
Don't let it go rusty. We all know that you still can press the wires
as well as anyone out there. (I may be a huge Carlos fan right now, and
always will be, but don't let Eric know, as if he cares!). But,
anyway, my second point is: Play your guitar again, Eric.

I received the Budokan VCD recently and I'm having problems viewing it on
my DVD player. I have a Sony DVP S360 which is supposed to play VCDs. I had
a similar problem with another VCD I received in a trade and worked out the
problem. I was told that CDrs will not play in many DVD players. It was
suggested to make a copy of the CDr onto CDrw media. I did this and the
disc played fine. I made a copy of the CDr I received of the Budokan show
onto CDrw media. All I get is the opening photo of Eric with the title
info. It doesn't play and move beyond that screen. It stays in play mode,
but with no play. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
John

We'll those of us who've seen the movie or video of the Last Waltz all remember EC's guitar coming off the strap during his intro solo to Further On Up the Road. What was always so puzzling to me was why Robbie Robertson & co. remixed FOUTR, moving EC's solos all over the place, making Clapton seem like a poor man's second stringer on the album version of the song.

Today it is clear to me. Reviews of the Last Waltz speak quite openly of the movie being a Robertson ego trip and an attempt at launching his personal career.

EC on film does a good job of FOUTR, EC on record sounds like a second rate chug-along. No one seemed to mind at the time (late 70's) as EC never offered much on record as far as guitar playing went, at the time.

I hope they've at least restored the proper mix (warts and all) on the super duper twenty-five year's later CD release.

Hell, people have had a lot to say about Simon Climie mixing Clapton's solos all over the place, but Robertson takes the cake.

1. Only if Markee forgives Clapton for never taking him seriously when he preached to him and also for firing him.
2. Only if Clapton forgives Markee for providing Christopher Standford with a major portion of his book The Edge of Darkness - a very negative affair. Actually, Clapton will probably say, "What's to forgive? I have spoken about my dark side quite openly in the past." - As on the radio interview Behind the Mask - mid - 80's, where Clapton talks about a bottle in one hand and a gun pointed to his head in the other.

I ll take the first 3 in Germany and first 2 from rest
of Europe. Please include your mailing address in your
request. If you dont hear from me you didnt make it.
Beware: many stand alone DVD players cant handle my
copy. The PC DVD players work with a little trick, but
you cant access individual tracks, just from start to
finish per disc incl. scanning forward and backwards.

Budokan audio ( 2 playable full disc files ) and
Birthday Box/ Farewell sets ( 3 zipped files with
individual tracks ) are still available
on SLOWHAND group on Audiogalaxy for download in 256
kbit quality.

Thanks to everybody who started this and provided me
with the copys.

I am looking for Woking now for myself and SLOWHAND
group. Thanks.

best regards

Fellow Slowhanders,

I noticed on the internet that the running time for the DVD release of the
special edition Last Waltz is listed as the exact same length (117 minutes
if I remember correctly) as the original release. I was under the impression
that the new DVD might contain most or all of the 17 missing songs which
were kept off the original CD, album, laser and VHS releases. I'm REALLY
hoping that All Our Past Times is included on the special edition DVD. I
know that they is some extra footage, but what is this extra
footage?......Interviews etc or actual complete never seen performances or
both ? Can anyone shed any light on this?

Cheers,
Jay

Thanks, Keith, that's what I would have wanted to put in words about
this "he should do ... next" stuff but never could. I like "Reptile" and
"Pilgrim", tho'. :) And I feel like there's a lot in them that already
has "Eric likes to do this and a lot of people don't" quality...

Hello All,
The previously unreleased E.C. cut on the Last Waltz is "All our
Past Times". I received the Box Set last week. This cut does sound
good. E.C. does a nice job singing this one and it is a perfect tune to
do because Rick Danko wrote it with him during the Shangri-La sessions
for No Reason to Cry. There isn't very much lead guitar work on it
though.
I also saw the limited run of the original movie at the Ritz movie
theater in downtown Philly about two weeks ago. It was great to see it
in such a large format. People started applauding after songs because
it felt so real! I guess it's probably the closest I'll ever come to
seeing Eric live in 1976.
Also for those of you who may be buying both the Box Set and the
DVD. Get the Bos Set first because there is a mfr.'s coupon included
which you can use to purchase the DVD. Amazon will not honor the mfr's
coupon.

Please send requests to my e-mail address at rhinton@san.rr.com and not
